Yesterday I had a breakdown. Actually, breakdown isn’t even the proper word to describe the craziness that I ensued in this household yesterday.
Yes, that is much better.
After picking Annalise up from school at 11:30, we had a nice quiet lunch.
Spaghetti & meatballs for the girls. Pita bread sandwich and hummus for me.
We had 4 hours til Annalise’s first soccer practice, so i thought I had plenty of time to scratch some things off my to do list:
today’s blog post
pack for our camping trip this weekend
guest post for Chevrons & Eclairs
Quite a big list for 4 hoursâ¦but this is classic Louise. I always pile way too much on my plateâ¦so much so, it overflows.
So as I was working on my planned blog post, the girls were playing nicely in their room.
I was taking pics of my haircut (which I’ll post later today). I had my outfits laid out with the jewelry I wanted to wear. I have this beautiful necklace that is just a huge collection of chains strung together to look like fringeâ¦.it is really a great edgy piece. But the only thing is, it gets tangled very easily. I sat there for 5 minutes detangling it, and then laid it out on my bed. The girls came in my room, and before I knew it, Mia had found that necklace, grabbed it, tossed it around, picked at it, and turned it back into a ball of tangles!
That’s when it started.
I didn’t realize it.
I kept quiet. I told her to play in her room. It wasn’t her fault, she didn’t know that it wasn’t meant to be tangledâ¦cuz really necklaces are meant to be tossed around and not worn around the neck right?!
I continued taking pictures of my new haircut. Having my own lil’ style shoot.
The girls started running back and forth between my room and theirs. Doors slamming shut and opening.
"Girls, play nicely please."
It was quiet for a minute, and then » SCREAMING!!
I told them to stop screaming, and that they needed to behave. A minute later » SCREAMING
After I finished taking pictures (notice, this is the only thing I was able to get done on the list above) it was already time to leave for soccer. When I went back in my room, there were cookies and crumbs all over my floor, my pillows were thrown onto the floor with the cookies, along with freshly laundered clothesâ¦it was a mess!!
I lost it!
It was my turn to scream, and boy did I! I sent Mia to the corner for a timeout, and lectured her on why we don’t scream and why we don’t eat upstairs. Annalise was getting ready for soccer, and she was whining about her missing shin guards. We had to leave for soccer right at the moment, but it seemed impossibleâ¦
I still had to put snacks together, find the shin guards, and then pause for just a second so that I could wipe the sweat dripping down my face from the humidity. Nothing was going as planned, and there were still dishes in the sinkâ¦and I hate leaving the house with dirty dishes left behindâ¦.hate it.
I yelled again.
Don’t ask me what I said, or what I looked likeâ¦it was a mess. If you are a neighbor, I apologize wholeheartedly. I’m sure someone in the neighborhood heard me.
Miraculously, we made it in the car and to practice on time. Afterwards, I asked the hubbs a question, and he snapped back with an answer. Wow!! And in the parking lot!
The hubbs has been working really long hours at work on a new project, and I understand he’s frustratedâ¦but given that I just had a meltdown with the girls, this was icing on the cake.
After giving the hubbs a piece of my mind, we drove to my parent’s house for dinner. They were having a dinner party, and I didn’t have time to cook, so we ate dinner there. I had to put on my smile there like nothing was wrong, but I was frustrated, stressed, tiredâ¦you name it! We didn’t stay long, and when we got home, in the garage, Mia closes the car door on my shoulder!
I screamed in pain and then at her!
At that point I was done!
I went up to my room, closed the door, and closed my eyes to try to stop the ringing in my ears, and get rid of my pounding headache.
The hubbs made the smart decision to take the girls to the store to leave me alone.
I picked up my bff and then we headed to our friend’s house to help our friend with her wedding invitations. She had wineâ¦.mmmmm!
Today I was able to steal away 3 hours for myself because both of my girls were in school today. I didn’t end up at a spaâ¦though that would’ve been nice. But I was actually able to scratch off a few errands and enjoy my coffee in peace. A completely different day than yesterday.
Am I the only one having a rough day/week? How’s everyone’s back to school week going?
